MT365: Day 23 - Homemade Food
As we’ve been talking about smartphones and technology quite a bit, you may believe that Montana is squarely in the twenty-first century. And for the most part, you’d be right. But not completely. And that’s what makes Montana all the more unique.
Hidden in small pockets throughout the state are isolated groups of (often) religiously devout people, living close to the land, with as little influence from modern American culture as possible. It’s a beautiful thing to see. They’re happy and wholesome people and they understand better than most the detailed ingredients that make life work.
While you’re in the area, we suggest you head to Cut Bank to interact with the local Hutterite colony. And more specifically, we suggest you buy some of their homemade food products. Anything from rolls to pickles to fresh wine, it’s all delicious. And while you’re there, talk to them and ask some questions. Find out what makes them tick. Who knows, maybe you’ll join them.
