Hamilton is a small, very Montana, town in the heart of the Bitterroot Valley.  With a population around 5000, Hamilton residents enjoy a quiet life, based around agriculture, forestry, and the outdoors.  Fishing and hunting dominate the summer months while snowmobiling and skiing are the preferred winter pastimes.  And despite Hamilton’s rural status, it is only a quick drive down the road to get to Missoula, the second largest city in Montana.  For this reason, Hamilton residents enjoy many cultural opportunities that other small towns in the state don’t have access to.  

Hamilton also boasts a rich history.  Named and founded by the famous American “Copper King,” Marcus Daly, Hamilton once played an economic role in the establishment of the railroad that eventually connected the country.  Today, the town hosts two microbiological research facilities that provide cutting-edge pathogen research to the federal government. And of course, like many other small towns in Montana, Hamilton relies upon the hard work of ranchers, mechanics, and lumberjacks to keep the wheels turning.
