Butte could be described as the hardest working town in Montana.  Built up in the early 20th century, Butte was once the mining capital of America.  Economic visionaries and grizzled miners alike flocked to the city to cash in on the vast store of resources that were discovered there.  Today, Butte maintains the identity of a driven, all-American city.  And surrounded by mountains on all sides, the views aren’t too bad, either.

The famous stunt motorcyclist Evel Knievel was born in Butte and cut his teeth as a dare devil there, and Butte still celebrates his legacy each year with the festivities of Evel Knievel Days.  And speaking of festivities, Butte likes to party.  They host a Folk Music Festival every summer, and twice, the National Folk Fest has called Butte home.  And don’t forget about St. Patty’s Day.  With a big population of Irish descendents, the whole town closes down for the weekend to honor the much-loved saint.
