The Bitterroot Valley is a remarkable 95 mile valley that extends from Lost Trail Pass, Idaho to Missoula, Montana.  Home to many small and medium sized towns, the Bitterroot Valley is home, like other places in Montana, to outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.  The summer sees great hiking and camping opportunities in the Bitterroot Mountains on the West side and the Saphire and Pintler Mountain ranges to the East.  And of course, in the Winter, skiing, snowmobiling, and all the other cold-weather entertainment you can imagine.

The valley is made up of rural communities, with the exception of Missoula at the Eastern end. Agriculture, forestry, and tourism make up the majority of economic activities here, and people generally choose to live in the Bitterroot Valley for the quiet lifestyle and the natural beauty that surrounds it.
